Committee Mission Statement
The Outreach Committee, chaired by the Vice President of Outreach and Communication, serves as the public facing arm of the Downtown Los Angeles Neighborhood Council (DLANC). Our mission is to cultivate transparency, trust, and active engagement between the council and the diverse communities we represent.
We believe that an informed and involved public strengthens every aspect of civic life. To that end, the Outreach Committee is responsible for organizing and promoting DLANC Town Halls, public forums that invite honest dialogue, elevate resident voices, and spotlight urgent issues affecting Downtown Los Angeles. These events aim to foster participation from all sectors of our community, including residents, workers, business owners, artists, and unhoused neighbors.
In addition to Town Halls, the Outreach Committee coordinates communication for all DLANC meetings, projects, and events. We ensure timely and accessible promotion through various channels, including the DLANC website, newsletters, print flyers, and strategic social media outreach. Our goal is to deliver information that is clear, welcoming, and easy to engage with.
The committee also manages all DLANC social media platforms, creating content that reflects the council’s priorities, amplifies community resources, and celebrates local achievements. Through consistent and inclusive messaging, we aim to build a sense of belonging and shared investment in the future of Downtown L.A.
Outreach is more than announcements, it’s relationship-building. The Outreach Committee works to make DLANC approachable, relevant, and visible in everyday community life. Whether through digital updates or face-to-face conversations, we strive to ensure that no one feels disconnected from their neighborhood council or overlooked in civic discussions.
Ultimately, our purpose is to bring people together, across backgrounds, blocks, and beliefs. To make DLANC a strong, transparent, and truly representative voice for Downtown Los Angeles.
