Advisory body of the City of Los Angeles advocating on land-use development, homelessness resources, livability, quality of life, and public safety.

This morning our president, Jens, was at City Hall This morning our president, Jens, was at City Hall to advocate for $100M for safer streets, bike lanes, & walkable neighborhoods.

The motion to hire the 25 positions needed to deliver LA’s Active Transportation Program (ATP) Cycle 6 projects passed unanimously at Transportation Committee today. Now it moves forward to Budget & Finance Committee and then hopefully the full City Council. ATP is a state program to encourage increased use of active modes of transportation, such as walking and biking. These funds benefit a number of communities in LA including Downtown’s own Skid Row.

DLANC is on it!

At the corner of 3rd and Main, a group of local ar At the corner of 3rd and Main, a group of local artists and residents have taken a trash pile and turned it into an art park! They planted trees, fixed brickwork, and installed outdoor art. They named it Panorama Park after the Panorama Theatre that was built there in 1888!

As the good people of Downtown LA demand more for their city, neighbors are taking things into their own hands.

Spring Street Park has had is share of issues, but Spring Street Park has had is share of issues, but DLANC is on it! With the help of our community we’ve worked with @cd14losangeles and @lacityparks to make improvements.

Wins:

The park is now being closed at night by city security services, the fence that was dividing the park has been removed, @lapdcentral has been sending more officers to keep the park safe, $100k in funding was allocated from the Council Office for park safety and signed off by the @mayorofla, and we have asked our congressman @repjimmygomez for $2M in appropriations for the park.

News:

Today, RAP broke ground on removing the “brown mound” a key ask from the community, DLANC, and CD14. Thanks to all neighbors, residents, and stakeholders including @dtla_ra, @historiccore, and @sparkdtla for all the advocacy and coming together as a community!

You may have seen a street takeover this weekend t You may have seen a street takeover this weekend that turned into a break-in of a residential building.

We have a zero tolerance for street takeovers and have been advocating since at least 2021 to prevent and end street racing downtown.

This break-in crosses a further line and makes residents feel unsafe in their buildings.

DTLA is no longer a playground for street racing. It’s a residential community that’s grown from 18,000 to 90,000 residents in the last 30 years.

This is the most walkable neighborhood in LA and we will continue to push to slow cars down and make residents feel safe.
