As a part of the long-term implementation of the Los Angeles River Revitalization Master Plan (LARRMP), the City has engaged the US Army Corps of Engineers to produce the Los Angeles River Ecosystem Restoration Feasibility Study (Study). During the coming year, the Study will be evaluating project alternatives with the aim of developing a “Recommended Federal Project” which may become eligible for a future federal project. Your input at the workshop will provide valuable input at the outset of this critical phase of the Study. We hope that you will be able to join us!
See attached flyer for more details.
Federal Funding for the LA River Revitalization Master Plan
Good news! The US House of Representatives has passed the 2010 Energy and Water Appropriations measure, including $2.15 million dollars to help jump-start the LA River Revitalization Master Plan.
Congresswoman Lucille Roybal-Allard (CA) announced upon the passage of the bill: “The $2.15 million secured this year in federal funds for the Los Angeles River will enable the Corps of Engineers to continue working with the City of Los Angeles and local groups to develop park space, recreation, and community improvement projects along its banks while maintaining the river channel’s critical function of flood control.”
Thanks to our representatives, you can count on federal support for the Master Plan, spurring local entities to get started!
