ANGELS FLIGHT

Built in 1901, Angels Flight has two red cars – named Sinai and Olivet – and an ornate archway labeled “Angeles Flight”, to ferry passengers up and down a steep incline in the Bunker Hill district. The landmark funicular railway is said to be the world's shortest incorporated railway; it's a public utility operated as a franchise granted by the City of L. A. Closed for restoration, it will reopen “in the near future.” Angels Flight was added to the National Register of Historic Places on October 13, 2000.

Request for Proposals to Create 5 min. film for Skid Row Community Mapping Project

The Affordable Housing and Social Services Committee of the Downtown Los Angeles Neighborhood Council (DLANC) is requesting proposals from an interested person or team to provide filming, editing, and production services for a 5 minute community service video. The subject of the video is the  “Where it’s At Map” which was recently created through a joint collaboration with several community members from Skid Row, the Affordable Housing and Social Services Committee, and TCA (Thomas P. Cox: Architects, Inc).

The goal of the video is to create an educational tool to illustrate the sense of confusion that can be caused by trying to find one’s way to services in and around Skid Row, and to subsequently showcase how community members came together to create a map to help solve this problem. The film will be largely based upon interviews with community members who were key to the successful creation of the map. DLANC will arrange for and conduct the interviews.

A modest honorarium will be paid for the successful production of the video. Proposals must include a minimum cost estimate for the creation of the video, one sample of previous work, and a projected time estimate for the completion of work. It is assumed that respondents will supply the equipment necessary for filming, editing, and producing the video. Proposals must be received no later than 12:00 PM on Thursday, February 4th, 2010.

Proposals may either be submitted electronically to Shannon Parker at: Shannon.parker@dlanc.com or by mail to:
