UNION STATION
Los Angeles Union Station is the hub of L.A. transportation. Opened in May 1939, it is known as “the last of the great railway stations” built in the U.S. It currently services approximately 400 train departures each weekday and has 14 train tracks: 2 for the Gold Line, 2 for the Red and Purple Lines and 10 shared by Amtrak, Amtrak California, and Metrolink. Think of the romance of travel on the Texas Eagle, Coast Starlight, Sunset Limited and the Southwest Chief.

Planting Small Gardens Everywhere
One of the projects proposed by the Downtown community for 2010 included mapping small spaces around the neighborhood that could be transformed by planting little gardens - with native plants, grasses, and maybe even edible plants. Join us for a 30-minute introduction (bring your lunch if you'd like) and find out more about the project and how you can get involved.
Big Sunday is a city-wide volunteer event that included more than 50,000 volunteers for projects in communities throughout Los Angeles. The Sustainability Committee has applied for an event over the weekend of May 1 and May 2. The goal is to develop at least three gardens for planting that weekend. Help us plan this event or the garden project. Find out more at this meeting!
Meeting Location: Central Public Library (Meeting Room TBC)
