ANGELS FLIGHT
Built in 1901, Angels Flight has two red cars – named Sinai and Olivet – and an ornate archway labeled “Angeles Flight”, to ferry passengers up and down a steep incline in the Bunker Hill district. The landmark funicular railway is said to be the world's shortest incorporated railway; it's a public utility operated as a franchise granted by the City of L. A. Closed for restoration, it will reopen “in the near future.” Angels Flight was added to the National Register of Historic Places on October 13, 2000.
Parks, Recreation & Open Space Committee
Mission Statement: The goal of the Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces Committee is to help make our neighborhood a more pleasant and pretty place to live and work. Within funding
limitations, we can get more trees planted and create pocket parks where
two or three people can sit in a green space to read and share a quiet moment. And, we
can look around with fresh vision to create various downtown Los Angeles' open spaces
where children can play, dogs can romp and people can feel good about living and working
here.
